Первое поколение Subaru Impreza в модификации седан и универсал дебютировало в 1992 году. Автомобиль занял пустующую нишу между Subaru Legacy и Subaru Justy.
Позже, в 1994-м, небольшим тиражом стали выпускать эксклюзивные Impreza с кузовом-купе. Перед инженерами стояла конкретная задача — создать серийный автомобиль
для победы в мировом чемпионате по ралли WRC. Модель, за основу которой была взята модифицированная платформа модели Legacy, получилась яркой и необычной,
и именно это позволило Subaru Impreza утвердиться на рынке и завоевать признание покупателей.
The first generation Subaru Impreza sedan and wagon modification debuted in 1992. The car has occupied a vacant niche between Subaru Legacy and Subaru Justy.
Later, in 1994, they began to produce an exclusive Impreza with a coupe. The engineers had a specific task — to create a serial car.
